Teen Pregnancy Prevention
Since the founding of GCAPP in 1995 as a teen pregnancy prevention organization, teen births in Georgia have dropped 72% due to statewide collaborations. However, GCAPP is the sole organization that has kept teen pregnancy prevention on the front burner for more than 26 years. Teenage pregnancies carry high economic, social, and health costs for teenage parents, their families, their children, and whole communities.
Repeat Teen Pregnancy Prevention
While teen births are significantly down in Georgia, repeat teen births are among some of the highest in the country. For over 20 years (until state budget cuts in 2020) GCAPP partnered with DFCS to administer the GCAPP Second Chance Homes Network with a focus on repeat teen pregnancy prevention. The homes provide stable environments and wrap-around services for thousands of girls and young women who are pregnant or parenting and often have no other place to go. Currently, GCAPP is piloting a repeat pregnancy prevention strategy with DFCS to improve the quality of services provided by organizations across the state. The pilot will capture information needed to create a Scorecard, improvement plan, and provide agencies the training and technical assistance they need to address gaps in services.
The Eban Project
A multi-dimensional, culturally tailored project that connects mentors with young Black men in Bibb and Clayton County, ages 13-19. Eban mentors are adept at building culturally responsive relationships with young Black men in a structured, supportive environment. The project uses evidence-based interventions proven to reduce risky behavior while promoting healthy social and emotional development.
Sexual Health for Adolescents Rooted in Equity (SHARE)
GCAPP is now offering two new evidence-based programs, LiFT and INclued, to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes among LGBTQ+ youth, youth in rural communities, and youth of color.
